Water and Life

Water, which is indispensable for life, has taken its place in many scientific studies and at the end of these studies, it has been presented to us as information on how it will benefit the body. The pH values for the beverages and bottled water tested were found to be generally acidic. The more the calcium, magnesium and potassium content of the water complies with the standards, the less acidity is; So its pH is on the alkaline side. The ideal pH range is to have a pH value between 7.5-8.5 (is slightly alkaline).

Despite WHO (World Health Organization) standards, water-borne diseases among humans are on the rise rapidly. It is known that prolonged exposure to contaminated water has a major impact on public health.Consumption of contaminated drinking water is defined as a silent killer, since the effects of chemical pollution in drinking water on humans are chronic rather than acute. In an animal trial, the synergistic effects of heavy metals, aluminum, arsenic, fluoride and hardness in drinking water on kidney tissues of mice were investigated. As a result of the research, it is suggested that trace metals, especially in WHO's drinking water, may cause serious kidney damage even at the recommended maximum levels.Nitrate in drinking water may increase the risk of colon cancer due to its endogenous conversion to carcinogenic N-nitroso compounds.

Drinking water out of normal values; also causes dental caries .Studies have also shown that toxic compounds in drinking water have a negative effect on the bioavailability of Selenium. In other words, if our Se value is low and our drinking water is bad, our body immunity and body defense mechanism against cancer will be lower.

Ensuring drinking water quality is very important for public health.Countries have developed a regulatory system to provide quality drinking water. However, it should be our primary goal to be conscious about this issue and to make the right choices.Although drinking or not drinking water is very important; We don't have to forget that it is always more important that we drink the right water in the right amounts.
